It has started at this wednesday 4th June in Rio de Janeiro the eighteenth edition of the Salão FNLIJ do Livro para Crianças e Jovens, the biggest national children and young´s book fair in Brazil. In this current year, due to financial crisis in our country not many publisher stands were visible compared to earlier editions, and with some publishing companies having sadly closed their doors. Because of those and of other many circumstances, this fair edition has been called "the Resistance Fair".
Yesterday at day 09 I was at brazillian children and young books writers and illustrators association (AEILIJ) book stand, where I had already left my pictorial record on the members mural, and then drawn on the little house that belong to the Ninho de Livro (book nest) project, in with I took part with other associated illustrators in a partnership with Satrápia agency for decorating little houses made for being book-exchanging spaces. Those houses after being painted would be placed in many regions in Rio de Janeiro. The little house I painted is now located in Morro do Borel, a favela community in north zone of Rio.

I took advantage to draw the many children running through the fair during school visit. Drawing children is always a challenge, for they never stop and this is a good excercise for a fastly and flowing stroke.
And so a little group of kids from traditional federal school Colégio Pedro II appeared to see our association stand, and while I was there with my fellow illustrator Cris Alhadeff and writer Cristina Villaça the children formed a crowd around us due to so big curiosity they had. Immedatly a circle was formed by children around me, astonished, as I went to draw them live and many of them went talking "Mister, draw me! Mister, draw I (sic)! Hey, it´s exactly the same!" It was fun, and I still included in the drawings both teachers who had come with that group.
